Sirius on the Mac

Hey internet radio Mac dorks. You might remember that I ranted about my struggles with listening to SIRIUS on the Mac OSX platform online a while back, and I’ve been lucky enough to get some good feedback from the development team for the existing sirius-related freeware about new updates. For that, I say thanks…

I’m a pretty busy guy, and like most online radio listeners, I don’t want to dive into a large project when dialing into my music each morning. I want to click once and hear my stuff, ya know? First, I decide whether I want to listen to music via iTunes (shared on 3 Macs in my office, so there’s a lot to choose from) OR – I dial into SIRIUS. Most of the time, I dial in, because, frankly, I love the shit. If you’ve ever listened to shows by Marky Ramone (29 Punk) or Jason Ellis, Jonny Mosely, Tony Hawk, Bode Miller (all on 28 Faction), Howard Stern Show, (Howard 100) etc. then you know what I mean.  Something for everyone, and a lot for me!  StarPlayr is my favorite right now (Dec. 07) over SiriusMac, but both seem to one-up the another with each release, and I recommend you try both and keep checking their sites for updates – hell, they’re both free if you subscribe to SIRIUS already.

It should be noted that the programmers of these applications had a pretty sour falling out, but I think this is good for us listeners. It keeps the competition up and gives the programmers incentive to create a better product, to piss the other side off – just like any industry… However, know this – the official Mac SIRIUS system is a joke. (No streaming data such as songs, album, artist, very horrendous tech support – Netscape 7? shit, that’s funny!) … So, support these independent guys. If you know of any other applications, think I’m full of shit, or have other input, please feel free to reply to this post. For now, here’s the links, and enjoy!

Hey, if you use iStockphoto.com like I do, you should be aware that there is a rate hike. It should be noted that A) I’m not complaining and B) you shouldn’t either. They’re still the best deal around for stock images, with the new rates. Ten bucks for a high resolution image is still pretty kick ass. Hell, I hope the boost in rates is to pay the fine folks that work there. Can you imagine sorting through all the lousy photos to determine what gets used on the site? Yeah, I can’t.

Sign up for istockphoto.com if you haven’t already.

Here’s the link to the new rate structure for ’08.

I’m not craigslist, but a friend of a friend is looking to sell one. Here’s the info:

“Epson 9600. 44″ wide. it needs a new print head because it’s been sitting idle for almost a year. Logged about 100 prints off of it. 7 inks. extra material as well. if you are interested, let me know. Make a reasonable offer if you’re interested.”

Hey, it’s the holidays and there’s lots going on. That’s my excuse for not knowing the Supersuckers were playing last night at the Beauty Bar – a mere 5 blocks from our office, in downtown Vegas. Lucky for me, though – some new friends (in a band called The Objex) clued me in at a birthday party last night, and my wife and I made the show. Here’s a couple pics. It was damn cold (yes, even in Vegas it gets down to the 30′s this time of year). Special thanks to Felony Melony and Jim Nasty for the info. Go see their show this week at the legendary Double Down Saloon or the Canyon Club. I’ll be there.

Last night, my wife and I attended the Holiday Party from our friends at Wendoh Media Group. (You may know them as 944 Magazine, Racket Magazine, Las Vegas Printing Press or Spy On Vegas or Vegas Passport).

Anyway, the party was at VooDoo, atop the Rio – and it rocked. Pauly always keeps things fun and fresh and last night was no exception.

Pictures like this help the hangover go away. Check out SpyOnVegas.com for more holiday cheer.

Happy Holidays… Where did I put that Advil?

In case you haven’t been there in awhile…

The Onion Sports page has been really funny lately.

Hey, if you’re around Las Vegas this Friday, here’s some good events to get in on…

1. First Friday party here at the Black Diamond Digital studio. 4-8 pm.

2. Cherry Hill Live – My favorite Vegas Band is playing 3 blocks from my studio. Go see ‘em! Here’s their memo: That’s right, this Friday night December 8th downtown under the lights in the Art District in Downtown Las Vegas, NV.  We are playing on the Landrover Stage which is located on Casino Center and California right next to the Funk House Antique Shop.  We go at 7:45 pm SHARP and we will be playing a 30 minute set.  So get your beanies, mittens, and winter coats out of the closet so you can enjoy the winter weather and listen to a special stripped down performance by Cherry Hill.  First Friday is free and all ages.  Hot cocoa, street performers, and lots and lots of cool local art for you to gaze over.  We hope to see you out enjoying the local culture.

3. Lots of Galleries, Food, Shopping & Nightlife – check out the First Friday website for all the details. http://www.firstfriday-lasvegas.org/next.html
