Barrett-Jackson Collectible Auto Auction Photos

0

Today was an example of the cool opportunities that pop up from time to time living in Las Vegas. I’m not necessarily an Auto Buff, but I have a heavy appreciation for classic cars. Especially VW’s and Mustangs. Today, Jake and I went to Mandalay Bay, and were treated to Free Passes to the Barrett-Jackson Collector’s Auction.

Check out the photos I took with my ever-impressive Canon SD630 Digital Elph. The gallery is available for viewing at this link. Enjoy!

Nice New Belgium Brewmaster Interview

0

Special thanks to Sloshspot.com for posting this interview on their blog. We at Black Diamond Digital have been big fans of New Belgium Brewery for over 10 years. In fact, we visited last month while in “Fort Fun” and enjoyed a 12 pack of Fat Tire (in cans, to our surprise). I drank one with dinner last night, and we still have  a fridge full. Stop by and have one with us!

Here’s a link to the interview with the Brewmaster at New Belgium Brewing. I recommend spending some time on the company site, as well. It’s insipring to see a company grow on their terms: maintain it’s integrity, it’s image (stellar graphic design all around), an environmental stance, and still manage to have a hell of a good time while making big profits at the same time. Cheers!

Not awesome: Kids with Cancer – UPDATE 2

0

Hey, it’s pretty nice to get emails like this one I got today. We designed and printed some items for my good friend Rick at GoodSports Radio last spring to support his sick granddaughter, and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Great to hear the news, Rick.

“To all my friends and family,
In what is by far the most wonderful email that I have ever had the privilege to send, my daughter Resa (Nana’s momma) texted this morning that the results of Nana’s CAT scan show her to be cancer free.   There is no way to ever properly say just how much we appreciate all of you but from the bottoms of our collective hearts we humbly thank you for your thoughts, support, and especially your prayers.  Praise God and may he bless you all forever and a day! Love Ya Rick”

Updating a previous story about supportsavannah.com:

It seems that Savannah “Nana” Reed is doing better, but still needs your support for some future treatment.

There’s a really heart-warming video featured on tonight’s KVBC website, under the “top video” section at the top right. Please check it out and get over to the fundraiser tomorrow night if you can.

Funky camera review

0

Friend of Black Diamond Digital, John Hawkins, reviews cameras and other cool stuff on his blog site. This time, it’s the Lomography 35mm Colorsplash camera. Personally, I’m already a fan, since I have a Holga, and some film that needs developed, now that I’m reminded of it….

Read all about it here, on John’s website.

Chuck Lorre Vegas Blog

Watch Big Bang Theory. When it’s over, pause your TV on the Chuck Lorre Productions blurb. You won’t be sorry.

Tonight’s post was about Las Vegas, so I felt obligated to represent. I got a laugh.

Check it out here.

China Design Expedition Event Recap

0

Last Friday was First Friday here in Downtown Las Vegas, and the AIGA treated us to a pretty awesome event, the China Design Expedition 08 with Bennet Peji and his great group of creatives from San Diego.

As an Advisory Board Member for the LV AIGA, I’m really proud to say that the business outreach for our local design community is working. This event included members from the City of Las Vegas Office of Cultural Affairs, The UNLV Downtown Design Center, International Association of Business Communicators, and the Asian Chamber of Commerce.

Check out photos of the event here.

Playmate Snowboards

1

This is genius on so many levels. First, it’s great design and photography. Second, it’s knowing your demographic. Third, it’s going to kick up some awesome publicity for Burton – the godfather of snowboarding companies. There’s a thousand snowboard companies – this strategic move shows Burton’s still the king.

Burton released photos recently of the new Burton “Love” series featuring vintage Playboy Playmates. Clean and classy, these boards are sure to piss off overprotective moms on slopes all across North America. Kudos to Burton. I love it that Burton has the cojones to do this, and I’ll continue to support them.  Here’s some snaps from Burton.com. Enjoy them, you perverts!
