I’m not much of an interior decorator or anything like that, but I know cool design when I see it. If you want so see cool lighting design, you should check out the collections of lamps from Varaluz. (They have one of my favorite logos and brand identities, too).
Black Diamond Digtal photographs many of these awesome lamps for Ron and Tonja, and we’re eagerly anticipating this year’s catalog once it’s finished.
Today I had a chance to browse the new Imara Corp. Website. Last October, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Berkeley, California’s Decision Counsel and Imara Corp. to photograph the staff, the products and the headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. Special thanks to Sal, Randy and Lauren at DC. Great job, ladies and gents.
If you’re looking for top-notch web solutions, check out the brand-spankin’ new company website for Decision Counsel.
and online. Special thanks to everyone who came by the studio.
I have some extra cans of beer, some 40′s, and some valentine’s candy. Killed the keg, though.
Cheers!
Here’s the link to the web gallery.
It’s great to see the AIGA and Adobe teaming up again here in Vegas. I highly recommend attending this event on February 25th. It’s at Town Square at the Chamber of Commerce.
Here’s the link to RSVP. Check out the JPG flyer attached, too.
See you there!
I’m working on a project and just spec’d out the paper. Luckily, we have an opportunity to use FSC-certified recycled paper. (One of my favorites, Neenah’s Classic Crest, to be exact). Now that this information is available, my client and I decided to bring to attention that this is, in fact, a “green” invitation.
That’s the easy part.
I’d like to use the FSC logo, but I don’t have the 2 days it takes to get it approved. (I know what you’re thinking: “but, Nate, you have time to blog?” Eh, zip it).
Now I’m seeking vector art for recycled symbols and soy ink. Google Images, here I come…. right? Wrong. Not for vector art. After bouncing around a few sites, I discover FotoSearch.com – who has a vast selection of recycled logos with every nauseating photoshop effect applied to it. FOR A $250 MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION.
Someone has to have put up a free resource for these logos, somewhere, right? Send me the link, please. If not, does anyone want to collaborate with me on this? Hell, I’ll host it.
First off, aren’t we, as a species, past the point of charging for recycled logos? It’s one thing if it’s a specially customized project, but really? You’re nuts if you think I’m paying hundreds of dollars for something like this. It’s not a Coke® logo, folks. And, I suppose we, as an industry, have too many slimeballs who would fake it and apply the FSC logo to a $19 business card job just to look cool.
Any advice? Comments? Put ‘em up…
Hey folks, starting this month, I’m going to blog about the people we work with, the companies that we respect and love to watch grow: “Cool Client,” “Cool Friend,” etc… you get the idea.
For the first of these posts, I’m excited to introduce you blog readers to Taka Designs, a partnership between Rachel Wenman and Orly Adani. You must check out the website, and get a look at the way they transform living rooms and workspaces from standard to extrordinary.
Their product is cool, the website is cool, and if you come by for one of our First Friday Parties, you’ll meet the cool Rachel and Orly – they love to support the small independent studios like ours and the galleries downtown (… and maaaaybe the Beauty Bar on Fremont Street, too).
Black Diamond Digital is participating in a special partnership with Taka Design. If you’re an artist who Taka is representing with their projects, we’re offering duplicating and prepress for your art pieces starting as low as $30.
One of the best design evangelists is Tom Peters. His books have been a huge inspiration behind Black Diamond Digital Imaging. I recently re-discovered Mr. Peters’ website, and his blog, in particular.
Check out this excellent recent blog post from Tom Peters.
I got a great thank you email this weekend about our monthly parties at the studio. If you haven’t experienced one yet, please feel welcome to. We send out email invitations, blog posts, twitter feeds, myspace posts – if you don’t know about our parties, you’ve been on vacation in a far away land, my friend.
“Again, thanks for letting us crash your party. The networking that
goes on is awesome. So many different industries clashing together.
It’s awesome.” John Hawkins.
John was also very kind in his review our party on his blog. Check it out here.
John is a great family man, a passionate photographer, a über-programmer, and the organizer of WordCamp (more info coming soon) and organizer of the Las Vegas Twitter Meetup Group, which is a strong and growing diverse group of businesspeople who partake heavily in the activity formerly known as “networking” – but without the cover charge.
– I for one, am stoked about meeting John and the potential ahead for our groups.
Thanks, hombre. Salud!
Check out what this guy did to remodel his basement. Here’s the article. Thanks to Guy Kawasaki for the twitter post.
